Whiteboard Test - Hangout Crew Kevin and Dennis
spent some time making the whiteboard more readable to the webcast audience.
Placing the webcam on a tripod seemed to do the job. |

4x4x4 Led Cube - CH Ting "I finally bought a
bunch of LEDs and built a 4x4x4 LED cube. It is now working, and I will bring
it to the meeting. I will only show a few simple demos, not the fancy ones seen
on YouTube. I was hoping to use shorting plugs to connect the LEDs to avoid
using a soldering iron. The shorting plugs did not work well. They got loose
after pushing and moving. I think they were made in China. I had to solder
them. That was messy."

GA144 on a Budget? - Dennis A. Ruffer "The
GA144 on a Budget project started after I took SchmartBoard's soldering class
at the SVFIG Forth Day in 2011, earning a
SchmartBoard
P/N 202-0048-02 and then winning a
SparkFun Breakout Board for
FT232RL USB to Serial. Following GreenArray's
Breadboarding on a Budget instructions, I attempted to create a
hardware platform to work on. I'll show how far I got, describe how I got
there, and why I have stopped pursuing this path toward my own
destruction."

One-Wire Tethering with myForth - Bob Nash A
previous presentation (August 2013) described how to program Silicon
Laboratories chips Gforth and
myforth. The
hardware requirements were minimal: a $9
Toolstick
board (from Digikey) and a three-wire connection to the target chip.
The one-wire tether uses the same environment. One of the C2
programming lines establishes an interactive half-duplex tether to the target
with only a few code extensions to myforth and the interposer program.
The programmer and one-wire tether are described in detailed
manuals at Bill Kibler's
website.
The programmer is described
here and the
one-wire tether is described
here.

Simple Scalable Fonts in Forth - Brad
Nelson How small can code to generate a useful scalable font be? In this
preview of his Forth Day talk, Brad will explore cramming a scalable
anti-aliased font into a few Forth blocks.
