	If you mean interpretation / compilation state, there's no such variable. : and :: let you define regular and compile-time versions of words, and the compiler chooses between them

	For control structures and defining words, I have compile time and run time definitions with an immediate vocabulary that sorts it out. It’s always searched first during compilation.

	Sounds similar enough. In my system, the compiler always checks both dictionaries, but the priority depends on the state. In interpretation mode, it checks the "exec" wordlist first, and in compilation mode, it checks the "comp" wordlist first, falling back on the other (actually it checks locals first, but that's details)
