(though not guaranteed) at Cogswell, so bring your wi-fi enabled
laptop.
Security Notice
When
attending SVFIG meetings, please be aware that Cogswell College now locks its
doors on weekends. To facilitate your entry to the building, there will be an
SVFIG member stationed at the door from 9:45am to 10:15am to admit recognized
SVFIG meeting attendees. If you are attending an SVFIG meeting for the first
time, please bring a printout of this agenda to identify your interest in Forth
and thereby gain admission. If you arrive after 10:15am, there will be a
telephone number posted for you to call to alert someone of your presence at
the door. The front door will also be checked at 20 to 30 minute intervals to
accommodate individuals without cellphones.
Do not, under
any circumstances, allow strangers to enter Cogswell. Those who are authorized
admittance have key-cards. |

10:00 --- Greetings from your Cogswell
Host - Tim Duncan Tim will definitely be there and we're hoping
he'll say a few words.
10:10 --- Forth Day 2008 Suggest a
speaker or volunteer to speak!
Note: As of this writing we have not
heard from Ting. If he shows up, he may be taking the morning session.
10:30 --- Book Talk Degenerating into
Random Discussion - Kevin Appert "I plan to bring a few Forth
books and chat about them. You're welcome to bring your favorite weighty tomes
as well. Then we'll digress into some discussion impossible to
predict."
Noon --- Lunch Some folks bring
their lunch, some folks go to Togos.
Afternoon Sessions
13:00 --- Introductions, Announcements,
Rumors, and Random Access
13:20 --- Field Trip Logistics -
Kevin Appert We'll talk about plans to visit the Iron Man Museum in
Sunnyvale some Saturday coming "soon".
13:25 --- Coming Attractions: Sellam in
October Sellam Ismail is coming to SVFIG next month. I expect he'll
talk about the vacation the Vintage Computer Festival is taking this year and
his plan to get volunteer help with what had been mostly his one-man
show.
13:30 --- New at IntellaSys - John
Rible, et al "IntellaSys announced the s40c18 today, complete with
Elizabeth Rather-written manuals, so we may have a few things to talk
about."
14:00 --- Lots of Dots - Kevin
Appert Kevin will discuss the creation of 7x9 (or so) dot matrix ROM
font tables for LCDs with SwiftForth or Excel spreadsheets. If you're labeling
plots or graphics on raster displays, this may come in handy.
15:00 --- Random Access - All in
attendance We always find something to talk about.
15:30 --- Herman Remembered - All
assembled We'll spend a few minutes talking about our memories of
Herman Griffin.
16:00 --- Adjourn
