Forth Programming Challenge - Bill Ragsdale
"This is not a contest, just a Show and Tell. There is no need to walk through every line of code. Just show the results and summarize the methods used. Before the meeting, start your Zoom program, activate your desktop view and practice. This can be presented from a live demo or prepared slides."

Purpose:

  1. Have fun,
  2. Get involved,
  3. Learn something,
  4. Program some real Forth

Proposed challenges:

  1. Print the alphabet “AbCdEfGh . . . z” in alternating case using three methods.
  2. Print a table headed by 240 to 249 across with 170 to 179 down. At each intersection show the Largest Common Divisor. (See Art of Computer Programming V 2, pp 316-321)
  3. Print the five largest prime numbers less than 10,000.
  4. Using terminal characters ‘*’ plot x-squared from 1 to 10. Use graphics if available.

Participants and Solutions:

  1. Bob Armstrong - Reva Forth
  2. Henry Strickland - GForth
  3. Adam Bricker
  4. Dave Henderson - Ripple.ip (?)
  5. Joel Shprentz - GForth on Raspberry Pi 4
  6. Brad Nelson - GForth
