10:00

Electric Car Rally
Some of us met up at Palo Alto High School for the Electric Car Rally put on by the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Electric Car Association.

11:45

Lunch
We walked across the street to Town & Country Village to eat at the Village Cheese House (a sandwich place) and the Sushi House.

We made our way to the Peterson Building at Stanford.

13:00

Introductions, announcements, rumours and gossip - All assembled
We went around the room and introduced ourselves and each talked about the first Forth we used. Suggest a future presentation!

13:20

Arduino eForth, Interactive Mandelbrot Fractals, and Interactive Digital Chart of the World - CH Ting

  1. Arduino eForth - "I ported the c-eforth to the Arduino and got the interpreter. The compiler does not work because the Arduino process does not provide tools to write flash memory. I'd like to know if this capability would be useful for Arduino users. I added PEEK and POKE to examine and control I/O devices. In this implementation C@ and C! access RAM memory declared as a data array, and are not the same as PEEK and POKE."

  2. Interactive Mandelbrot Fractals - "I updated and simplified the user interface so that one only has to use left mouse clicks to perform operations."

Slides - 158 Kb pdf file

  3. Interactive Digital Charts of the World - "I fixed the last (hopefully) bug and it works with the new mouse interface as above."

Slides - 235 Kb pdf file

"I am thinking of releasing Fractals and Charts as games. I hope to hear opinions from SVFIG members."
