Factor in 2022 - John Benediktsson & Doug
Coleman John and Doug presented a guided tour of Factor's best features,
libraries, and demos. Factor is a stack-oriented programming language created
by Slava Pestov. It is dynamically typed and has automatic memory management,
as well as powerful metaprogramming features. The language has a single
implementation featuring a self-hosted optimizing compiler and an interactive
development environment. The Factor distribution includes a large standard
library.

An overview of microCore - Klaus
Schleisiek microCore is a Forth processor written in VHDL and running in
FPGAs. It is a wildly scalable, dual stack, deterministic computing engine for
real-time-control.
Future microCore talks will include:
- Why scalable word width is possible
- The Pause mechanism allows MUTEX in hardware

Forth Programming Challenge - Bill Ragsdale The
March Programming Challenge is to create a money handler for a
self-service, store checkout terminal.
- Have a charge from $.01 to $100.00. Typical $32.26
owned.
- Accept cash from $0.01 through $100.00. Typical $40.00
tendered.
- Upon entry of currency or coins show the balance due.
- Output control signals to dispense: penny, nickel, dime, and
quarter, $1, $5, and $10 bills. Typical $40.00 - $32.26 = $7.74 would be
output: four pennies, two dimes, two quarters and $2 and $5 bills.
- If the transaction is cancelled, return the amount(s)
