Notes from the January 2001 Meeting

01/23/2001

Enclosed is the WinStars.f file I intended to present. It is derived from WinClock in Win32Forth. The graphics is significantly improved because the angular resolution is now 1 degree, improved from 6 degrees in WinClock. I put in 10 hands, representing the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, in that order. The Chinese astrology dealt with the 5 planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Together with Sun and Moon, you can predict almost anything with these heavenly bodies.

I also include this P16b.zip for John Rible. It is the P16 system, fully tested on Xilinx Virtex FPGA. I am especially proud of the simulator, which can be an interesting demo in the meeting. It faithfully replicates the P16 cpu as it runs the eForth system. To see the eForth running in the simulator, follow these steps:

  1. Bring up Win32Forth

  2. Load P16 eForth by: FLOAD META16
META16 also loads OK16, KERN16 and EF16, and builds a P16 image in RAM array.

  3. Load P16 simulator by: FLOAD SIM16
SIM16 runs the P16 code in RAM. Serial IO is vectored to Win32Forth.

  4. Run simulation by: 3000 G
3000 is a location simulator will never encounter. To exit, press ESC.

  5. Now try WORDS, DUMP, SEE, .S, and define a few colon words.
