midiForth - CH Ting "I am trying to build a
midi-translator which reads a midi file and outputs a Forth text file which has
midi messages in Forth source code form. This Forth text file can then be
compiled by a midi-compiler to regenerate the original midi file. Translating a
midi file to a Forth text file allows one to edit and to modify a midi file. It
also allows one to compose music in text and then play it on midi instruments,
Media Player, or any such PC utility. My own purpose of this
midi-translator/midi-compiler is to play the Bach organ music I had already
coded. If it works, I will retire my old 4.77 MHz PC clone (with the CRT
display, the 12 channel counter timer, and 6 speakers), and reclaim the lab
space." |
